Title: Harnessing ferroelectric textures and quasiparticles
Abstract: The theoretical prediction [1] and experimental demonstration [2] of electric skyrmion bubbles, followed by the recent prediction of their Brownian [3] and driven [4] motions, have brought topological ferroelectrics closer to their magnetic counterparts. Electric bubbles (e-bubbles) could potentially be leveraged for applications similar to those proposed for magnetic skyrmions, including neuromorphic computing. Yet an experimental demonstration of e-bubble mobility is still lacking, and agile control of electric textures remains a major challenge. In this talk, I will summarize our current computational studies aimed at predicting the behavior of e-bubbles in realistic scenarios, including pinning by defects [5], and at identifying original, experimentally amenable strategies to stabilize and manipulate complex electric textures [6,7]. Work funded by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), as of late through grants INTER/ANR/24/18960894/TOPOTHERM, C24/MS/18979315/BELCOM, and AFR/18810392/LIGHTTRAP.
