Title: Merons in magnets revisited: no need for fractional topological charges
Abstract: I will present a unified topological classification based on homotopy theory for vortices, merons and skyrmions in magnets. It will be shown how to solve the puzzling conclusion on а fractional topological charge for merons, which has become standard practice over the past decades.
